Today's idiom: Put into perspctive

Example: " How do you put it into perspective?" [NPR Radio, Boston MA 09.09.07]
Means: "to assess the significance"[R: gray paper]

Alternative meaning: "To put everything into its correct place. Ensure that things are where they should be in relation to everything else around them. So eg. if you hear a quote taken out of context it might imply something quite different to its original meaning. But put it in it's correct place, or in perspective, and it can take on a completely different and correct meaning".
